Classic Mini Workshop
United Kingdom
Приєднався 18 лис 2006
Hi, Welcome to my UA-cam channel. I upload on a regular weekly basis Classic Mini related videos and workshops. I currently own three Classic Minis, a very rare 1997 Rover Mini Cooper Sport 5, Rover Mini Cooper MPI 1997, and a 1994 Rover Mini Sprite which I have modified extensively restored over the last 7 years including converting the engine to a 1.6 lite 8v C16SE from a Vauxhall Astra GLSi with a 5 speed gearbox.
I have owned Classic Minis for nearly 30 years and have picked up some great tips and learnt some valuable lessons along the way which I am more than happy to share with you. I am lucky enough to have owned several Mini Coopers and two ultra rare UK Spec ERA Turbo Minis.
I attend many Mini events throughout the year and am Vice Chairman of Brighton Mini Club. I enjoy helping others time permitting and have been involved in some very exciting Mini based project recently.

Hi Keith, what air cap is did you use on the devilbiss? Looking to invest in one with a TE110 cap. Thanks.
Where did you get a few hours of sunshine from to dry your carpets? I am still waiting for some of this to clean and refurb my seats.
I got lucky for a few hours, i think that might have been summer gone now lol 😂
If John Cooper had P 111OWW as a demonstrator, I've driven it as I was considering doing a Sport 5 conversion on my SPi. Was a lot of fun!

Looking really nice, can i ask what sort of paint you used ? I will be respraying my TR7 once i've recommisoned our 1976 Mini 1000. Also, what DA did you buy ? Thanks 👍
Polyester base and 2k clearcoat. The DA was called Magnum i think, just a cheap 150mm DA off ebay
Great, thanks for the info, I'll start doing some research 👍 👍
Hi dear!!! Hope you are well. You already have 14.3k subscribers a huge number. Your video-making is very good. Your content ideas are excellent. But I am researching your channel and was shocked to see that your every video has lower audience engagement and reach also much lower. If you permit me, I will share some information to increase your channel. Then you get lots of subs, views, and a larger audience reach organically daily. Waiting for your valuable response, Thank you.
Looking good Keith light at the end of the tunnel great video
Wow Keith I didn’t realise how beautiful those wood cappings were! Gorgeous mate! 👍🇬🇧
Thanks 👍

You did'nt mention about the winder mechanism sealant Keith. I've been looking where to get this from....if you don't mind where did you get it from ?
Its Butyl tape www.psasolutions.uk.com/product/butyl-sealant-tape
Hiya Keith-great job! RG is looking fantastic. Keep well.
Thanks mate
I was hoping to see a surprise appearance at Beaulieu today... 😢 Hopefully later in the year!
The carpets look good. I'll be doing the same with mine, only mine are red. I'm hoping they come up nice with a good wash like yours. I have no underlay & I'd like to know how you did yours? When I removed mine the underlay was a mixture of all sorts.
Almost there looks amazing well done how are the engine and carbs doing
Just waiting for some oversized thrust washers
Would like to see this one in the flesh . Good work 🎉
Looking good mate
It’s really taking shape now the interior is getting put back in. Great work Keith.
Do you do repairs on other peoples minis or just your own?
Only my own cars, I don't get time for anything else
Thanks for the video, my sons 96’ Mayfair auto selector seal needs doing so this is a great help, just wish the engine wasn’t still in the car😂. Just a couple of questions 1) where did you get the seal from and 2) what colour silver did you spray your Mayfair wheels? Thanks
I don’t know the exact shade, they were powder coated
How much paint did you use?
I think it was a 1 litre tin, so 2 litres once mixed with thinners
@@classicminiworkshop to paint the whole car wow
No thats just the front end. The whole car would be about 5 to 7 litres in total
G'day Mark, what tension did you use on the manifold nuts?
Hello Ian, lets just say 3 ugger duggas! 😂 Just as tight as i could get them.
I would say £1450 for the paintwork Keith.
She’s looking great Mark, you’re on the home straight.
Thanks Peter 🙂
If all this were not filmed, it would be hard to believe that you are doing it alone in your garage. The result is incredible!! Bravo
Great job mark finally getting it all back together be over to see it when we are back great video Keith
Thanks Dad x
Hi could you tell me the make of the yellow Mig is please looking for a new one cheers .Alf..
GYS SMART MIG 162 160AMP
@@classicminiworkshop thankyou great work you guys really informative and helpful cheers..Alf..
PLEASE COULD YOU TELL THE SHORT PIPE FROM PETROL TANK TO COPPER PIPE AS I DOANT ALOT ABOUT MINI
I don't understand. Can you rephrase your question please
Wow. Looks great Keith. Certainly worth the effort you put into it.
Hiya Mark-getting close now-looks superb. Hopefully might see your S and Keith's RG both up and running soon. I can remember when you could buy a set of twin SU carbs ready to fit for about £40 from a scrap yard, but then I am nearly 60! Keep well.
Hi Dave, thank you. Unfortunately it's not going to be ready for Himley Hall so i'll be going to that in the Madgwick. I may go to Stanford Hall so it will be ready for then!🙂
I lost count of how many times I made up a brake pipe and forgot to slide the fitting on first 😅 It's very easy to overlook when your keen to get things finished. All looking great Mark... Looking forward to seeing you fit the battery and doing all those tests of wiring and ignition etc. My experience with oil coolers has been mixed.. If you use Penrite CLASSIC MINI 20W-50 (Mineral) , I'd advise fitting an oil temperature gauge or using Valvoline Racing 20/50 I'd fit an oil thermostat. Coolers make your oil pump work harder and you have to bare in mind the gearbox is using the same oil which has to be around 80 degrees to allow the engine and the synchro's to work efficiently. Apologies if you already know all this stuff.
Done that a few times myself Pete 😅. The oil cooler was always fitted to the Mk3 S as a standard feature. I've not ever had any issues with it on this or my Madgwick. I use the Swiftune Oil on both the swiftune engines too. Lets say the first start wasn't as simple as it should have been!
@@markdraper7 😅😅😅 They never are !
Looks absolutely beautiful 👍
Great tip regarding applying a touch of heat. Worked a treat.
Yes, i wasn't sure it would work. 🙂
Great progress so far, looking really good. Can't wait to redo mine
Thank you. Take plenty of photos before and as you strip down! 🙂
Congratulations Keith, you've done a sterling job on this Mini. Enjoyable bit now putting it back together
Another great vid! I'd guess you're about 2.5k in materials for that job. It's really looking great!
Looks well nice Keith as for price I'm gonna say 1k all in all 😊
WOW lovely Keith it looks nice and shiny
Too humble, amazing results for a man in his shed! I'd guess it at 2.25k in parts
Mate, that looks even better now! Great work. 😎
Thanks 👍
Wow. I thought the paint looked good before the wet flat and polish but now it looks stunning.
Paint work looks fantastic, job well done.
Hi Kieth, Looking great. Not sure if you said but wondering where you got the trizact discs from?
E-bay, you can buy them in all different quantities
Certainly notice the difference on the bonnet but end product looks amazing great video Keith
That looks stunning, I'm getting ready to paint mine this week....some excellent tips and advice!
